Ballard’s Commercial team PLM Department has a new position for a Director of Product Lifecyle Management, Motive Modules in the Product Line Management Department based in Burnaby.
The successful candidate is an energetic person with great leadership skills, an influencer and a master of persuasion with great capability to resolve conflicts and help others to see the right path in complex situations.
You will have a keen eye and an impressive ability to see things strategically. This person will be responsible for working as part of a cross functional team and will interface internally with Sales, After Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and Finance and externally with Customers and Suppliers.
The Director is expected to support a number of PLM activities related to our current and new generation family of Products in the Commercial Vehicle (Trucks and Buses), Marine, Material Handling and Power Generation sectors.
This position will also help to enhance the synergy among PLM, Product Development and Manufacturing areas and will ultimately enhance the technical competence and technical knowledge of the PLM team.
Responsibilities :
- Champion customer and sales support activities including participating in sales and technical calls with customers
- Oversight of cross functional activities related to current and new products development
- Oversight of critical projects execution
- Develop and Maintain Product Cost, Price and Warranty Models
- Work closely with Sales and Business Operations to support the development of Commercial Proposals
- Provide guidance and key inputs to Product Engineering on the configuration of product offerings
- Support the Management and Maintenance of Product Configuration Matrix
- Participate in the Creation and Definition of :
- MRD (Market Requirements Document)
- PRD (Product Requirement Document)
- SDR (System Design Requirements)
- SSDR (Subsystem Design Requirements)
- Support the development of Strategies and Roadmaps in the following areas :
- Product supporting Technologies
- Manufacturing and Supply Chain
- Product Offerings
- Support Product Databases
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of customer-facing product documentation and presentations
- Participate and contribute to Product Reviews and Business Team Meetings
- Decision making and priority calls are part of the day to day job.
Required Experience :
- A minimum of 10 years in hardware product line management, or a minimum of 10 years of experience in product development and / or manufacturing
- Mechanical / Electrical / Systems Engineering or Engineering Physics degree
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering and Systems Design
- Fuel Cell Technology experience is an asset
- Knowledge of national and regional transportation vehicle standards and certification processes is an important asset
- Knowledge related to the energy or commercial vehicle / transportation sectors
- Proficient with standard office software tools
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work Independently, some travel will be required (10% or less of the time)
