Senior Communications Consultant

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Communications, the Senior Communications Consultant will deliver effective, engaging, and accessible communications to all Western employees in both English and French, supporting internal and external brand alignment, and aligning team members with Western’s vision.

The Internal Communications team is a strategic business partner group, connecting team members to Western’s enterprise strategy, mission and shared values while enriching Western’s culture of care through credible, transparent, and thoughtful communications.

Here is what a typical day looks like

Creating and delivering effective and engaging enterprise, functional, and business line-specific internal communications strategies in both English and French through various platforms and channels;

from planning, implementation and evaluation, considering audience, corporate strategy, budget and sensitive issues.

  • Leading Western’s annual Top 100 Employer submission in collaboration with stakeholders across the company.
  • Supporting leaders in implementation of crisis communication plans to manage potential issues effectively.
  • Supporting the Communications team with English-French translations for internal communications and material as required.
  • Ensuring all communication materials meet corporate standards and quality expectations
  • Offering regular advice and support to team members on best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Fostering and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders both within the organization and with our parent company, Wawanesa to align on key initiatives and build a network of support.
  • Adhering to Internal Communications SLAs and ongoing process enhancements to support excellence in customer satisfaction.
  • Supporting the continuous evaluation and refinement of internal communications processes to identify better ways of working.

The value you bring

  • Superior writing, editing, designing, and proof-reading skills in both English and French required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic communication principles and practices, project management (supportive role), change management and culture communications.
  • Consultative team player with strong interpersonal skills who can also function with a high degree of initiative and independence.
  • Reliable, proactive, organized, attentive to detail and flexibility to respond quickly and positively in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to a diverse audience using various communication tools and channels (i.e.Outlook, SharePoint, Bananatag, video, PowerPoint, Prezi).

Audio / video editing experience would be an asset.

  • Expert proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Suite (i.e. Photoshop). Proficiency with MS Teams and O365 an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree in Communications or related field, and / or 7+ years experience in internal / corporate / employee communications.

Hours : Full-time / 37.5 hour / week

Location : Remote within Canada

Salary range : $77,000 - $97,000 per year.
