What is the opportunity?
The Manager, Wholesale Platform Finance, Controls & Governance - Accounting Policy will act as an accounting advisor and provide oversight and accounting advisory to the wholesale platform.
They will seek out and implement opportunities to improve operational accounting processes and drive consistency of financial reporting globally.
In addition, they will support operational accounting projects and cross-enterprise initiatives on behalf of the Wholesale platform, liaising and collaborating with various stakeholders both within and outside of the platform.
This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in being the key contact with internal / external auditors and all regional Financial Controllers to effectively mange quarterly reporting processes, including key SOX controls.
What will you do?
Coordinate and support the Wholesale platform in the management of the implementation of new IFRS accounting projects by :
- Support the development of project plans and collaborate with the Global Wholesale Finance team to set up and achieve milestones in accordance with planned objectives.
- Support end-to-end implementation of new accounting requirements on behalf of the platform, including education, monitoring, and communications, acting as a challenge function, and ensuring appropriate documentation.
- Initiates and coordinates discussions to drive accounting projects and initiatives forward and issue life-cycle identification, to implementations and operationalization.
- Coordinating committees and working groups, regional financial control units and the Accounting Policy Group (APG), Financial & Regulatory Reporting (FRR), and Audit.
- Initiating and facilitating education sessions, group meetings, acting as a challenge function, and ensuring appropriate documentation.
Researching and providing technical accounting guidance, as well as addressing specific technical accounting queries raised by multiple stakeholders, including communication to senior management globally through issue life cycle - from identification to implementation and monitoring, and consideration of existing policies and controls.
- Act as a liaison and subject matter expert on all topics relating to new Financial instrument standards, including classification decisions, disclosure requirements, and proper accounting for transactions.
- Support the Platform in updating, revising and clarifying existing accounting policies as written by the Accounting Policy Group, including interpretations of complex accounting issues.
- Support leadership on quarterly external disclosure requirements, including the impact of regulatory changes.
In the execution of above responsibilities, the incumbent will act as liaison between the Platform (including regional financial control units) and Accounting Policy Group and Financial & Regulatory Reporting.
as well as other teams in discussing and resolving technical accounting issues, implementation of new accounting requirements, and quarterly or annual external financial reporting requirements.
What you need to succeed?
Must Have
- 3+ years of high level involvement in Financial reporting or accounting advisory
- Accounting designation (CPA)
- Some understanding of external disclosure requirements
- Some exposure to accounting policy / technical accounting analysis (IFRS).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and collaborative skills
