Position Title : Senior Technology Specialist, DevOps Reports To : Senior Technology Manager, Shared Services
Department : IT Individual Insurance Term : Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements : This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month.
You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
The Opportunity : Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Senior Technology Specialist, DevOps to join our Individual Insurance IT team!
This role will maintain and enhance shared technology solutions and infrastructure, and partner with a cross-functional team to develop, test, launch, and refine solutions to optimize the organizations' service experience.
They will also be responsible to develop and, implement infrastructure technologies that support business priorities and capabilities for internal and external clients.
Additionally, this role will provide technical and practice leadership, and to continuously evolve the capabilities and technologies that enable continuous delivery of shared infrastructure systems

What you will be doing :
- Support the implementation of corporate policies, standards, and procedures that provide effective architecture, governance, and management of Equitable's technical systems and solution
- Work with internal and external teams to increase client satisfaction by improving the quality of systems and products through identification of issues, on-going maintenance, and implementation of solutions
- Perform hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of components including the maintenance, upgrading or replacement of hardware and / or application software
- Assist in the maintenance of existing internal processes and quality system management documentation to uphold quality standards
- Inspect systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvements to workflow and enhanced efficiencies
- Monitor capacity usage and performance of assigned technologies to assure operational availability and process integrity
- Provide technical guidance to peers and / or end-users regarding technologies that enable continuous delivery of shared solutions
- Provide technical and practice leadership, and to continuous evolution the capabilities and technologies that enable Continuous Delivery.
This includes but is not limited to change and review workflows, automated CI / CD (continuous integration, continuous deployments), configuration management, continuous testing, and the stewardship CI / CD tools / platforms.
What you will bring :
- 5+ years experience in IT, with multi-domain expertise
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the following or related discipline : computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering
- Hands-on experience in software development / design and CI / CD pipelines across multiple projects
- Proficient using Azure Devops Services to create and manage automated pipelines that build, test, and deploy code changes
- DevOps techniques building continuous integration solutions using Jenkins, Docker, Git, Maven etc.
- Introducing / integrating with tools to support security scanning and test automation
- Configuration management tool such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet are highly desirable
- Kubernetes and other container management solutions
- Cloud computing, PaaS, IaaS, and related areas are highly desirable
- Monitoring tools like Zabbix, OPNET, and / or SPLUNK, or any other monitoring tools / processes
- Streamline the development process, reduce manual errors, and ensure new features are delivered to users quickly and efficiently
- Working with development teams to integrate code quality checks, automated testing, and deployment strategies in the pipeline, which maintains high standards of software quality and velocity.
- Automated agile environments delivering infrastructure; monitoring and tooling to high-traffic applications
- Enforcing security best practices and compliance policies
- Conducting root cause analysis for system outages or performance issues
