MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an I ntermediate Mechanical Engineer / Designer on behalf of our client- an Engineering Consulting firm, for their Edmonton office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing mechanical HVAC and Plumbing systems for various new and renovation projects and assist the project manager in coordinating the required resources to complete project design work.
Responsibilities :
- Lead detailed design across various project scales, delegating tasks to team members.
- Supervise and mentor mechanical designers and intermediate engineers, reviewing their work before submission.
- Provide technical guidance to clients and project sub-consultants, ensuring effective communication.
- Attend design and coordination meetings, contributing expertise and insights as required.
- Conduct construction site reviews, leveraging strong understanding of construction processes.
- Prepare schematic design and development reports, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Analyze client proposals and specifications, determining cost-effective design solutions.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to select mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate mechanical systems with other disciplines, ensuring seamless integration.
- Continuously improve workflows and design standards to achieve high-quality workmanship and project timelines.
Experience & Qualifications :
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience as a Professional Engineer : P. Eng. in the jurisdiction in which they are working.
- Detailed understanding of all building systems including architectural, structural, civil, electrical and fire and how they impact and are impacted by the mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of current codes and standards such as the applicable plumbing and building codes.
- Excellent written skills and understanding of software programs : Bluebeam, AutoCAD, REVIT.
