Location : Ontario
Required hours : 7,000 hours per year of Full time employment
Overview :
We are seeking a skilled and creative Baker-Pâtissier to join our culinary team. As a key member of our bakery or pâtisserie, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of high-quality baked goods and pastries.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities :
Baking & Pastry Preparation : Prepare and bake a variety of baked goods including bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, tarts, and other specialty items according to established recipes and quality standards.
Recipe Development & Innovation : Assist in creating new recipes or improving existing ones, ensuring unique and high-quality products.
Decorating & Finishing : Decorate and finish pastries, cakes, and desserts to create visually appealing products, using icing, chocolate, fondant, fruits, and other decorative elements.
Quality Control : Ensure the consistent quality of all products, including taste, texture, and presentation. Perform quality checks on raw ingredients and finished products.
Inventory Management : Maintain inventory of ingredients and supplies, ensuring they are stocked and stored properly. Prepare and rotate stock to minimize waste.
Cleanliness & Organization : Maintain a clean and organized kitchen or bakery area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Sanitize equipment, work surfaces, and utensils.
Customer Interaction (if applicable) : Provide exceptional customer service, answering any questions about products and taking custom orders if required.
Team Collaboration : Work closely with other bakers, pastry chefs, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely production of baked goods.
Training & Mentorship (optional) : Provide guidance and training to junior staff or apprentices to improve their skills and techniques.
Requirements :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent; formal culinary or pastry training is preferred.
Experience : Proven experience as a baker or pâtissier, ideally with 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen.
Skills : Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry preparation, and cake decoration.
Creativity : Ability to create innovative and visually appealing baked goods and pastries.
Attention to Detail : Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products consistently.
Physical Stamina : Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment, standing for long periods and lifting heavy items.
Teamwork & Communication : Strong teamwork skills and effective communication with colleagues and supervisors.
Work Ethic : Strong time management skills, ability to multitask, and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
