SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Operations and working alongside the District Technology Coordinator, the IT Manager is responsible for the operation of the IT Services department and aligning the progressive use of technology with the education and business objectives of the School District.
This position will lead a team of IT professionals to implement the new IT strategic plan with the support and direction of the Superintendent of Schools and Secretary Treasurer.
The position manages, coordinates, directs, designs, and supports all IT-related activities of the organization, working closely with other departments to implement and support cost-effective technology solutions that improve education and business services.
This position also coordinates the development and implementation of Information Technology related policies and procedures.
The Manager of Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support in all areas of digital resources including technology infrastructure, data management, security, software, procurement, communication, and the training and education of staff.
THE CANDIDATE
In addition to being an exceptional manager and leader, the successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of enterprise level security, network and infrastructure technology, and a working understanding of Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) as a methodology to manage and control change.
The individual will be well-versed in Privacy Impact Assessments and lead the roll out of the program.
E DUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or equivalent from a recognized university or technical college.
A Microsoft MCSA and / or Cisco CCNA / CCNP certification is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of eight (8) years related work experience in the Information Technology field.
Minimum of three (3) years managing a team in the Information Technology field.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft enterprise products including M365, Entra, MS Server, SQL, and Active Directory.
Thorough knowledge of the planning, implementation and maintenance of enterprise network equipment including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and firewall devices.
Thorough knowledge of scripting languages and database administration.
Knowledge of the regulations and codes, standard practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the Information Technology industry.
Knowledge of proper safety practices and the demonstrated ability to work in a manner that recognizes personal safety and the safety of others.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts, demonstrates a helpful and pleasant manner in dealing with others.
Proven ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing, ability to explain instruction or information clearly to others.
Ability to plan, coordinate and estimate work in an orderly manner and see the assignments through to completion.
Working knowledge of healthy and safe work practices in accordance with WorkSafe BC Regulations for Workers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and manage an IT team consisting of administrators, technical analysts and support technicians.
Maintain district technology to ensure educational, business-critical, and life-critical system continuity and advancement.
Contribute to the development, refinement, and delivery of the district's technology plan and ensuring the alignment of technology investments with services to student learning.
Liaison between school and department stakeholders to ensure technological needs are being met.
Involved with privacy impact assessments related to technology.
Provide input and direction towards the application of technological solutions.
Maintain accurate inventory, licensing, and maintenance contracts of all technology assets.
Ensuring all school district data is secure and follows all Ministry FIPPA regulations.
Assist with budgeting of all district hardware and software.
Ensure established policies and procedures are followed by district staff and review said policies and procedures as required.
Collaborate with department and school staff to ensure maintenance activities, such as upgrades, patching, and backups are completed.
Guide and mentor members of the Information Technology department.

The pay range is $97,335 to $121,669. Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of qualifications and ability to meet the key requirements of the job, and consideration of internal equity comparisons.
