The Opportunity :
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Senior Designer to complement our Vancouver office, where we are involved in exciting work across a range of building types including commercial, mixed-use, retail, industrial, hospitality, public buildings, and healthcare.
You will provide design leadership on various projects. May oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on specialized design and act as a design resource for specific components of projects.
May work on several concurrent projects of varying sizes, including those that are large and complex. Assist in the education and development of design staff.
Healthcare design experience is essential .

- May assist with business development by contributing to proposals, attending interviews, etc.
Here’s what you’ll be doing at Kasian :
Project Planning
- Work with the Project Manager (PM) to create work plans, drawing lists, scope of services, budgets, and staffing requirements
- Review and monitor project scope and initiate corrective actions in cooperation with PM
Project Delivery
- Lead the Kasian design process through the creation of design concepts, generation of presentation material and required submission documentation
- Responsible for conceptual design excellence; initiate concepts and discussions of ideas
- Provide guidance to the design team
- Implement design standards and guidelines
- Lead and take responsibility for delivery of project design, including coordination of design, production, contract administration, and financial success of multiple projects
- Work with technical and contract administration staff to produce successful design development and contract documentation in alignment with Kasian’s standards of quality, client program, and budget needs including coordinating project specifications and ensuring overall design intent
- Lead project meetings and client presentations, or co-chair with Project Manager / Project Director
- Interact with clients on a broad range of sensitive administrative and management issues which could include escalation in areas such as invoicing, contract interpretation, scheduling, and content of deliverables
- Work with authorities having jurisdiction to interpret and conform to codes and bylaws
- May prepare contract documents and specifications
- Properly maintain project records
- Coordinate building and development permit submissions
Project Review
Advise supervisor immediately of any project performance issues and work with them to resolve problems including ongoing review of project quality and monitoring of budget and schedule
Participate in the peer review process for Kasian projects
Here’s what you bring to Kasian :
Arch or M. Arch from an accredited architectural program coupled with a minimum of 10+ years of architectural experience;
5 years minimum in healthcare projects.
- Registration with a provincial regulatory board an asset
- Capable of providing leadership in design
- Strong technical background
- Strong software skills, Revit is considered an asset
- Excellent time management and teamwork skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Detailed knowledge of applicable building codes and by-laws
- Advanced knowledge of construction practices
Salary starts at $83,000 + per annum, based on a 40-hour work week. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, and skill set.
