The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are seeking to recruit a qualified academic physiatrist who would fulfill the academic position description of a Clinician Teacher or Clinician in Quality and Innovation.
The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.
It is expected that the position will be 70% clinical and 30% related to research, teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and administrative duties.
The anticipated start date is February 2025, but can be negotiated to suit the successful candidate’s needs.
Clinical expectations will be providing PM&R care in outpatient and inpatient settings at Sunnybrook Bayview and St. John’s Rehab campuses for Neuro rehab patients including ALS and Stroke patients.
Clinical expertise in spasticity management and bracing would be an asset.
The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and have, or be eligible for, certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated clinical excellence in PM&R with advanced training in Teaching, Education, and / or Quality Improvement and Patient Safety.
Excellence will be assessed by successful quality improvement initiatives, evidence of practice innovations, publications in leading journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades.
This position will support the need for teaching, quality and innovation in the diverse PM&R clinical practice settings, including inpatient and outpatient venues across the campuses of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs of the University of Toronto as appropriate.
The successful candidate will report to the Division Head of PM&R at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The Division of PM&R Medicine comprises five full-time academic physiatrists, two part-time academic geriatricians and clinical associates.
It has an outstanding reputation in clinical research, education and knowledge translation.
Remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered.
The candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
