The Role :
We are actively seeking a technical engineer with infrastructure detailed design for our bridge team in Ottawa. The bridge team works collaboratively with our divisional team across Ontario.
This role presents a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in Egis's growth, contributing to the exciting trajectory we are carving out in the region.
The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes :
- Civil or Structural Engineering Degree from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligible for license in Ontario.
- 2-7 years of experience in the design of bridges after graduation and experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code or AASHTO.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, industry standard bridge design and analysis software (such as Midas Civil, CSI Bridge), and AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Experience in preliminary design and detailed design of new bridges and rehabilitation or evaluation of existing bridges, steel and concrete structures.
- Experience with MTO design work would be an asset.
- Familiar with relevant agency / regulatory approval processes as pertaining to bridge engineering.
- Demonstrated ability in meeting project deliverables and requirements.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Key Responsibilities :
- OSIM inspections with MTO and various municipalities.
- Assisting in producing the creation of engineering products on a wide variety of small to large bridge rehabilitation and new design projects from concept through construction that meet and exceed customer quality requirements.
- Working both independently and as part of a team to define the problem, establish the work scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight.
- Performing complex technical engineering tasks efficiently and accurately, while leading and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Preparing and checking detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, quantities and cost estimates, detailed technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses.
- Providing technical supports during construction, including the review of contractor proposals.
- Frequently coordinating and collaborating with other Engineering disciplines and departments including highway, foundation, environmental, drainage and electrical.
- Facing client and maintaining effective working relationships with clients.
- Leading successful project pursuits, including determining budget estimates and staffing requirements and writing winning proposals.
- As directed, perform Project Management duties including assembling and managing project teams, controlling project budgets and schedules, quality control of deliverables, client interaction and management, and financial reporting.
- Providing input and technical guidance to CAD Designer / Drafters, Designers, and less experienced Engineers working on the same and other projects.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
