The Assistant Controller will play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of the company. This position involves overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting.
The Assistant Controller will work closely with the VP of Finance and other departments to support the company's financial objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a family-owned business environment.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
- Complete month-end procedures and reconciliations for inventory, deferred revenue, accruals, overhead, etc. together with the existing team in a very efficient and timely manner.
- Reviewing financial results of individual companies monthly.
- Analyzes development projects from a financial perspective
- Analyzes specific job results by revenue type, (e.g., overall margins on large supply jobs), ensuring we reach our target margins.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required.
- Assists the Controller with year-end financial reports where required.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company.
- Other duties are requested by management.
WHAT YOU BRING :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA certification is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data and make recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with ERP systems is beneficial.
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively with other departments and team members.
