Job Title Health and Safety Senior Manager (Supporting the GO Expansion Program) Location Toronto, CA (Primary) Category All Job Type Full-time Job Responsibilities (Internal Title : Construction Safety Manager) Collaborate with the client teams to implement and maintain programs, systems, and procedures to achieve the transformation of HSW practices Applying tools and techniques, defining local strategies and methods to initiate and implement change to improve health and safety performance Developing and delivering safety initiatives, from conception to implementation, in areas such as supply chain prequalification, supply chain engagement, risk management, and effective health and safety data management Developing implementation plans and training materials Advising the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing on strategic HSW matters Supporting and driving a dynamic lesson learned and business improvement process for HSW across the program Engage with the client teams, providing health and safety leadership and credibility building lasting relationships Supporting strategic health, safety, and welfare risk management Responsible for construction safety assurance by reviewing and assessing the Contractor’s Safety Plan and Safe Work Method submissions and inspecting construction sites Provide construction safety expertise to the Safety Manager, Construction Manager, and team Develop safety training materials and presentations for presenting at safety meetings Build the training safety program and conduct safety training sessions Lead safety and injury investigations followed by the required reports and follow-up.

Continue to observe and audit site safety Oversee audits conducted by CSOs Manage the development and implementation of the Safety Management Program on the project Interpret the Health and Safety of the project and make recommendations to Managers Establish a strong safety culture on-site and accident prevention techniques, and ensure compliance with external and internal policies Contribute to Ministry of Labor (MOL) site visits and MOL incident investigations Review and provide detailed proof, and recommendations regarding safety policies, regulations, and industry safety practices to assist in resolving on-site safety issues, omissions to safety practices that may be discussed in claims resolutions, or lack of work performance Evaluate document reviews with safety as the focus of the review Assess and work with the construction management team to adjust the roles and workflow Complete any tasks assigned by the supervisor in an efficient and timely manner Working Conditions Site-based Qualifications Required Experience : Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience Education : Health and Safety related degree or equivalent with a professional designation certificate i.

e. CSRP or CMIOSH, or a combination of education and industry experience Licenses OR Certifications : Holding recognized certification in at least one of the following : Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Canadian Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), Gold Seal Certificate (GSC) for Construction Safety Coordinator (CSC) or National Safety Officer (NSO) Skills and Competencies : Strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and construction regulations and their application to construction projects Rail and infrastructure delivery experience Technical knowledge and extensive experience in safety management systems Experience in developing and embedding health, safety and wellbeing management systems Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Wellbeing policies, standards, legislation, and procedures about the industry Experience in large-scale program delivery Extensive construction experience Must have a proactive approach to safety, applying sound judgment and techniques in all situations Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadership Keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilities Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal) Advanced Microsoft Office skills Capability to lead, supervise, delegate, and develop capacity Proven success in providing on-site leadership for project teams by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones Tact to perceive and ameliorate conflict and tension Comtech Group Inc.
