partner staffing on behalf of our Client, we are seeking an experienced Civil Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead our Geotechnical Engineering Department in Alberta.
The successful candidate will manage a team of engineers and technicians, oversee project execution, ensure technical excellence, and contribute to the company’s growth by developing client relationships and new business opportunities.
This leadership position demands a balance of technical expertise, business acumen, and team management skills.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage the Geotechnical Engineering Department, ensuring effective team coordination, development, and performance.
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-efficiency.
- Provide expert technical guidance on geotechnical issues, including soil and rock mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining and enhancing client relationships, and identifying business development opportunities.
- Ensure all geotechnical designs and reports meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the business development team to identify potential markets and opportunities for growth, and prepare proposals and bids for new projects.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring that health, safety, and environmental standards are upheld.
- Manage department budgets, resources, and schedules to meet project and company objectives.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Qualifications & Skills :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Alberta or eligibility for registration.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a consulting company.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, with hands-on experience in foundation design, slope stability, site investigation, and ground improvement.
- Proven ability to manage large, complex projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing teams, with a focus on collaboration, mentorship, and professional development.
- Strong business development skills, with experience in client relationship management and proposal preparation.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities : Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary project team.
Ensure projects comply with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. Implement quality control processes to ensure high standards of project delivery.
Conduct regular project reviews and audits. Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective resource allocation.
Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Minimum of 7+ years of experience in transportation project management.
Strong knowledge of transportation infrastructure, including roads, highways, bridges, and public transit systems. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
