For more information about our school district, visit Reporting to the Senior Manager, Information Technology, this position is responsible for the programming and administration of the district’s database servers and custom web-based software applications.
Work will include complex analysis, design, programming, administration, and configuration of databases as well as application development in server, desktop / laptop and tablet / mobile environments.
Software development will be primary done in Microsoft Visual Studio utilizing C# and SQL. Frontend development software is also created using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
Duties may include providing customer support, assistance with more complex work or troubleshooting software issues. RESPONSIBILITIES1.
Gathers technical requirements, plans, designs, tests, maintains and supports District databases and custom web-based software applications.
2. Assists in the design, implementation and documentation of complex systems and centralized District computer resources.
3. Tests, evaluates, modifies and maintains current and new hardware / software, computer programs and systems to improve workflow.
4. Manages, maintains, enhances, secures and reports on data and systems for optimal performance, including highly confidential systems and databases such as Payroll, Human Resources and Financial Information systems.
5. Conducts technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, and time required and compatibility with current systems.
6. Prepares detailed flow charts, and diagrams outlining system capabilities and processes; writes systems and application documentation.
7. Provides functional support and expands capabilities in the areas of programming and administration.8. Provides leadership, mentoring, guidance and advice to staff as required.
9. Continuously upgrades skills to keep abreast of new technology.10. Performs other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS1.
A BCIT or equivalent post-secondary degree in Computer Sciences / Information Systems and four (4) years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Microsoft Certified Database Administrators (MCDBAs) or Microsoft Certified Application Developers (MCADs) certification and / or a minimum of 4 years of direct database development.
3. Extensive knowledge and experience with C# and Transact-SQL.4. Extensive knowledge and experience with CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
5. Extensive experience in developing software solutions in MS Visual Studio.6. Experience designing and writing software scripts to automate routine tasks and simplify system administration.
7. Demonstrated ability as a team player with effective communication and problem-solving skills.8. A self-starter with proven initiative in developing and executing IT projects and identifying opportunities for efficiencies.
9. A valid BC Driver’s License.This is a full-time, permanent position. The salary range is $84,730-105,913, plus an excellent comprehensive benefits package.
