Our workforce, like our technology, is rapidly expanding and looking for a qualified NDS Operations Supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY :

Responsible for overall operations of all Smart products in Canada. This also entails training customers in the office and at the rig location for Smart products.

It is the objective of this group (trainers and operations staff) to ensure NDS Performance Products deliver maximum value by engaging the customer, closely working with customers, RIGLINE 24 / 7, as well as Nabors training groups and technical support.

This role is also responsible for technical mentorship of direct reports in the areas of drilling dynamics and analysis as well as setting standards on analysis templates, analysis and reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manage group operations to ensure adequate field coverage as required by ongoing activity.
  • Coordinate activities for service trials and startups with all functions involved (Drilling Operations, Training, Field Service, etc.).
  • Order hardware kits for upcoming deployments.
  • Work closely with customers to understand needs and opportunities for Performance Product technologies.
  • Provide technical mentoring to engineers through in-depth knowledge of the drilling process and drilling dynamics.
  • Define analysis, reporting and presentation standards to be used by the team. Manage the development of performance metrics, tools and methodologies.
  • Engage with customer in well planning and drilling performance discussions to highlight opportunities and identify challenges to success.
  • Track and report active job and trial activity. Work with all required functions in the organization to ensure adequate staffing, resources and support for current operations;

anticipate future needs for the same in close collaborations with customers.

Training drillers on the rig how to optimally utilize the automation.

Customer loyalty :

  • Build strong relationships with customers based on thorough understanding of drilling challenges / solutions and the application of NDS technologies.
  • Support the differentiation of the performance tool offering by working closely with customers to become an integral part of their processes to measure and improve performance.

Sales Support :

  • Work with Sales to implement effective processes to support the sales process including sales calls, customer visits, technical discussions, product presentations and product training.
  • Identify, validate and qualify opportunities for application of NDS technologies.

Product Development.

Provide input for product planning to engineering and development groups based on field observations and customer feedback captured through team interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Thorough understanding of the drilling process and the mechanics / physics involved.
  • Strong analytical skills; Demonstrated ability to develop analysis spreadsheets and reports.
  • Highly proficient with MS Excel : management of large data sets, complex graphs and reports, automated analysis through VBA.
  • Effective verbal and written communicator.
  • 10 years of experience with drilling rig operations
  • 2 years of automated drilling experience (Smart ROS, NOVOS, Amphion, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power BI applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

BS in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical).

  • Familiarity with machinery and equipment to include installation, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Ability to identify potential risks in operations and implement risk management strategies to mitigate them.
  • Regulatory complianceunderstanding of local, state / provincials and federal regulation governing oil and gas operations.
  • Leadership and SupervisionStrong leadership and supervisor skills to manage / direct technicians and contractors to ensure productivity, safety, and adherence to procedures.
  • Decision making. Good judgement and the ability to make decision quickly and effectively, while weighing risks

  • 30% Travel within Canada
  • Potential international travel on case-by-case basis
