As an External Relations Co-Op Student (12 months) with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive group of Stakeholder Engagement and Communications professionals.

The successful student will support a variety of engagement and communication initiatives for the External Relations team.

This opportunity is open to post-secondary students who are currently enrolled in their 3rd or 4th year of studies and are part of a Co-op Program.

The position is in Burnaby, BC and will begin in January 2025 with a term length of 12 months.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Coordinating material development for new / updated content.
  • Drafting documents, including plans, reports, correspondence, briefing notes and presentations.
  • Processing materials through approvals; Supporting events and conferences (virtual and / or in person), including but not limited to logistics, attendance, monitoring, participating on behalf of Trans Mountain.
  • Supporting public engagement, issues management and information-sharing activities.
  • Supporting the Community Investment Program and Public Awareness Program through implementing program enhancements, data entry and performing additional tasks as needed.
  • Researching, preparing and updating contact lists.
  • Coordinating damage prevention and other mail outs.
  • Supporting record keeping and submissions to Borealis database.
  • Supporting crisis communications activities; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Professional Experience :

  • Actively enrolled in Communications, Public Relations, Stakeholder Engagement, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to accurately analyze information.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Opportunity for a cornerstone project for student’s portfolio, project will be based on student interest and business need.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Position is Burnaby based.

The expected pay range for this position is $22.42 to $30.07 CAD per hour.
