FFCA is seeking to hire an Occupational Therapist commencing August 12, 2024. Position Summary The Occupational Therapist position at FFCA is part of the inclusion team based out of central office.
This multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively with staff in each campus to ensure students have the universal, targeted and specialized supports required to engage at their fullest potential with FFCA's whole group instructional approach.
In this role, you will provide evidence-informed supports and conduct assessments as needed in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
Reporting to the Coordinator of Inclusion, you will work with students as a direct service provider and with educational staff as a consultant and educator.
Responsibilities As a member of our multidisciplinary team, the OT : consults with school-based staff, families and district personnel to provide a continuum of occupational therapy services to students from K-12conducts screenings, assessments and documentation to support the unique learning needs of children using formal and informal measures communicates and interprets results to team members provides recommendations for universal, targeted and specialized supports based on data gathered prepares written assessment reports when required supports teachers and parents to implement strategies effectively collaborates to provide school and system level professional development that builds system capacity around supporting children and students' OT and sensory needs provides teachers with classroom-based supports based on individual and group needs supervises Occupational Therapy assistants works closely with campus-based administrators, teachers, and assistants to ensure ongoing intervention for students requiring targeted and specialized supports collaborates with Student Services and local teams to provide effective ongoing supports to schools works collaboratively with therapists from multiple service providersestablishes and maintains an inventory of materials, assessments, and suppliesQualifications Education and ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in occupational therapy or equivalent from an accredited University Program.
Current registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)Experience working with children / students with special needs and their families.
Preference may be given to occupational therapists with experience in a school-based setting.Demonstrated Skills and CompetenciesAssessment and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work as a member of an educational team.
The initial contract will be probationary in nature for a period of one year. A continuous contract of employment will be subject to a successful performance appraisal during the probationary period.
