What We Need :
The Group Pregnancy Program is a new, innovative model of care. Clients will be seen on the Alongside Midwifery Unit for their prenatal care in a group care model.
After delivery, the clients will be seen at home within the first week and then again brought into a postpartum group care model.
Midwives will rotate through providing antenatal, delivery, and postpartum care. The structure of the program supports midwives working in shifts (8 hour days or 12 hour days or nights).
Even though midwives are not on call they will still be providing the full spectrum of midwifery care.
The role of the Group Pregnancy Midwife is to provide safe, flexible maternity care to childbearing people and their families.
Midwifery care is provided from conception, through pregnancy, labor, birth and the 6 week postpartum period. Midwifery care is people and family centred in keeping with the philosophy of the profession of midwifery and the core values of Oak Valley Health.
Midwives are autonomous practitioners who provide primary maternity care, including labour and birth care. Midwives work collaboratively with all professionals and function as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team providing safe, effective and comprehensive maternity care.
The midwife facilitates continuity of access to care beyond the childbearing year, when necessary, through communication with other care providers or services
What you bring to the role :
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of midwives
- Minimum 2-3 years of recent experience as a midwife experience as a midwife, full scope is an asset.
- Demonstrated providing expert clinical care that supports the physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being of people and families in prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period.
- Demonstrated building successful relationships with patients, families and colleagues as partners in decision-making and care
- Possess leadership attributes necessary to work closely with nursing staff, the multidisciplinary team, and other stakeholders to achieve optimal quality patient outcome
- Demonstrated acting as an advocate for patients and their families
- Excellent physical assessment skills
- Proficient computer and writing skills
- Familiar with professional and hospital standards, guidelines and procedures
Work Schedule :
The successful candidate would be required to work 8 and 12 hours shifts (days, nights, holidays and weekends).
