Director of Engineering
Location : St. Catharine’s or Burlington
The Director of Engineering is a people-focused technical professional who provides technical direction and management guidance to the engineering team.
They proactively develop and maintain a team of high-performing engineers and designers, continually seeking innovative methods to improve team performance and project profitability.
This role is responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers as they develop, modify, and create solutions to clients’ technical problems.
The Engineering Department has execution responsibility for all engineering projects, including schedule, cost, and technical quality performance.
Talent :
- guide, and empower a dynamic team of engineers and designers, ensuring they meet professional standards for production and quality control, delivering services and products on time and within budget.
- cultivate, and retain talent aligned with core values, fostering active engagement in client service. Implement training and mentorship programs for both direct reports and team members, ensuring continuous awareness of modern engineering techniques, practices, and technological advancements.
- comprehensive performance reviews and address internal performance issues promptly for efficient resolution.
- with Managers and Project Directors to strategically assign team members to projects, optimizing outcomes for both clients and team members.

Engineering :
- the Engineering Department, steering the successful execution of all engineering projects within designated budget and schedule constraints.
- and implement comprehensive policies, standards, and calculation procedures to guide the engineering and technical activities conducted within the department.
- thorough reviews, approvals, or modifications of deliverables before issuance, ensuring adherence to required standards.
- curate, and enhance an internal database capturing lessons learned from technical, commercial, project management, and other insights garnered through projects.
- senior-level technical assistance to projects and clients, enhancing value through extensive experience and expertise.
- compliance with the Quality Management System, ensuring all processes and procedures in the engineering department adhere to relevant codes and standards, are constructible, cost-effective, and prioritize safety.
Administration :
and fortify the Engineering Department, implementing a robust structure and acquiring top-tier talent to align with the growth strategy.
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Operations on resource forecasting.
- plan, manage, and supervise daily functions, operations, and activities of the engineering team, aiming for continuous improvement in organizational productivity and customer focus.
- with Project Directors to optimize resource allocation, ensuring proper staffing for all projects and adherence to scheduled progress.
Seek priority clarification from the Senior Director of Operations as needed.
- participate in leadership meetings, offering valuable feedback and support to the Senior Director of Operations as necessary.
- regular engineering team meetings with direct reports, fostering collaboration and communication within the department.
- seamless coordination, in collaboration with the Discipline Managers and Project Directors. Ensure a logical sequence in the total engineering effort for all projects to minimize rework and address potential scheduling conflicts and problems.
Serve as a crucial liaison with engineers to streamline processes.

Qualifications :
