Job Description
WHAT’S THE JOB?
Assist with repair and maintenance on a medium size fleet of truck / trailer equipment.
Assist with repair and maintenance on a diverse fleet of heavy equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance of all fleet vehicles, tractor trailer units and heavy equipment.
Complete work orders accurately and efficiently.
Operate in a safe manner and adhere to Company’s safety standards.
Have working knowledge of vehicle safety requirements.
Maintain a high level of professional appearance, demeanor and attitude always.
Consult with lead mechanic to determine specification of work to be undertaken.
Work in unison with other mechanics.
Undertake training required to complete heavy duty mechanic certificate.
Perform other duties as required.
Rotating on call which includes after hours and weekends.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Current enrollment in the Heavy-duty apprentice program.
Class 1 Drivers license will be considered an asset; and
Partial completion of tools required to perform job.
Perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 45 lbs.
Working at heights when required
Walking on a variety of surfaces including concrete and gravel.
Requires manual dexterity of both hands and feet to perform activities such as lifting overhead, twisting and bending while lifting, climbing ladders and stairs while wearing protective equipment, and working in confined spaces, including repetitive arm motion below, at, and above should level.
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat / cold, wet / humid, and dry / arid conditions.
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
