The Corporate EHS Manager provides strategic direction to support business strategy, including development of corporate environmental, health and safety policies and programs.

The Corporate EHS Manager position is ideal for an individual that has true passion for everything Environmental, Health and Safety.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Health and Safety :
- Align corporate and local EH&S goals and strategies by leading and developing policies and programs, including design, content, communication plans, resources, and tools at a corporate level.
- Ensures that company policies and procedures comply with applicable legislation in Ontario. Recommends amendments and revisions as applicable.
- Ensure health & safety committees are in place, meeting regularly, and documenting their activities in accordance with health and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with the Wellness & Abilities Manager and HR to support the Return-to-Work Program for occupational and non-occupational illness / injuries.
- Lead incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.
- Develops and coordinates applicable health and safety training materials.
- Oversees health and safety audits and safety certification programs.
- Measures and analyses environmental, health and safety statistics and recommends actions for improvement opportunities.
- Present environmental, health and safety information at Employee Meetings.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external agencies, such as WSIB, MOL and other government agencies.
- Reviews liabilities and potential risks and provides guidance and recommendations to mitigate.
- Oversees and facilitates responses to all compliance orders, penalties, assessments, and similar items with government agencies.
- Develops and maintains contacts within the industry and liaises with professional associations, and other relevant organizations to remain current in the field.
Environmental :
- Drive environmental programs related to air, energy, waste, and water.
- Lead, monitor and promote pollution prevention activities.
- Generation of permit applications for air emissions, wastewater, and hazardous wastes.
- Manage the hazardous waste disposal program. prepare submissions for required environmental reporting (i.e. National Pollutant Release Inventory, HWIN etc.
Assist with the hazardous waste disposal program.
- Develops regular reporting metrics; prepares reports for management on monthly environmental statistics.
- Arrange for Industrial Hygiene assessments (personal and area monitoring for dust, noise, and air quality, as necessary)
WHAT YOU NEED
- University degree or college diploma, specializing in environmental or occupational health & safety discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in leading health and safety initiatives in a multi-site organization.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail .
- Health and safety-related designation is an asset (e.g. CRSP or CHSC).
- Familiarization with third-party safety prequalifiers (ISNetworld, Avetta, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Professional presentation and public speaking skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to each site on a regular basis.
This role could be assigned to one of our primary offices in Ontario, while travelling between various locations. Travel between the Ardent Industries business locations will be divided equally.
