Job Description :
Reporting to Senior Manager Enterprise Architecture, the Enterprise Architect will shape Cenovus's technological vision to support strategic and operational goals.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of modern IT architecture concepts.
This role involves developing long-term corporate plans, including policies, procedures, and standards to integrate technology into company operations in a cost-effective manner.
Specific Responsibilities include :
Provide expert technical leadership in developing the strategic direction for Data & IT architecture, standards, principles by :
Advising the Enterprise Architecture team and the Manager on the direction of corporate / department computer systems, emerging Data & IT solutions, and new products, recommending technologies and solutions for Cenovus.
Assessing business / technical feasibility and impacts on current and future systems, recommending solutions, and coordinating resource requirements and priorities.
Participating in annual strategic architecture planning and collaborating with other groups, jurisdictions, and service delivery agencies to facilitate information exchange.
Contributing to the preparation of Data & IT plans and budgets for company-wide integrated initiatives.
Provide guidance to Delivery initiatives, by :
Contributing to the definition, implementation and governance of enterprise Data & IT and architecture plans, policies, and standards to guide the development, integration, implementation and maintenance of infrastructure, software applications and solutions.
Reviewing initiative and project documentation (e.g. Solution Designs) throughout their lifecycle to report on their status to the Enterprise Architecture team and ensure compliance with Data & IT standards and principles.
Leading the definition, implementation and governance for project and operational activities, business process review and systems research / design policies, procedures, and standards.
Providing advice regarding interpretation of, and amendments to, Data & IT development policies and procedures.
Providing advice to Data and IT teams regarding technology risk assessments, total cost of ownership (TCO), problem resolution and project issues.
Serve as the company's technical authority as a Data & Information Architect :
Producing and sustaining strategies with supporting roadmaps that cover the data & information architecture domain.
Developing data management standards and practices, especially those effective in ensuring data quality and data integrity across the corporation as part of the identification and definition of cross-enterprise data entities.
Supporting the business and projects in all manners associated with integration architectures, including application (ESB, SOA, EAI, BPM), data (ETL / ELT / CDC) and event-based (EDA) methods.
Providing guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects and initiatives are in alignment with the corporate data architecture and the evolution of key enterprise data / information management platforms supporting analytics (Data Warehouse / Lakes), content management (ECM) and geospatial analysis (GIS).
Understanding business requirements and mapping them to the enterprise data and process models.
Providing input and consulting support on large-scale projects and road maps for compatibility with the enterprise?s vision for data management.
Deliverables :
Enterprise IT Roadmaps aligned to business outcomes. Addressing technical debt and keeping the landscape aligned with industry trends while generating value for the corporation while focusing on cost containment.
Develop decision records supporting architectural changes, technology selection process, and new application requests.
Qualifications :
Legally eligible to work in Canada.
University Degree in Applied Sciences (Engineering, Systems Design, Computer Sciences, or Business) or equivalent diploma with industry experience.
Relevant certifications are an asset (e.g. TOGAF, ITAC, ITIL Foundations, DAMA CDMP).
Extensive experience in modern data architecture, data management, and related fields, often requiring 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
5 to 10 years of progressively advancing roles within IT, preferably including :
5 years in an oil and gas environment, ideally with software and solution experience in infrastructure and shared services portfolios.
2 years as an Enterprise Architect with a large organization.
5 years as a Solution / Project, Business, or Data Architect.
Proven technical competency in one of the listed Architectural disciplines.
Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
A modern perspective on architecture's role in a dynamic company.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Experience with architecture modeling tools is an asset.
