Reporting to Senior Legal Counsel, the Senior Law Clerk contributes to the overall success of the Legal Department in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
They also ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will :
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Assists with all aspects of the Legal Department's litigation administration, management and reporting processes worldwide, including database management and maintaining electronic litigation document repository, assisting with preparing case summaries, drafting litigation reports, communicating with external counsel as required and following-up with internal clients for required documentation and matter information, assisting with all quarterly and year-end processes relating to litigation reporting and compliance and communicating with and providing direction to foreign operations regarding litigation reporting and administration.
- Assists with coordinating e-discovery activities on a global basis including retention (implementing and monitoring legal holds), document collection, conducting first pass document review, and production of records, including responses to third party demands.
- Assists with management of Anti-Corruption Compliance Process by conducting due diligence on foreign law firms.
- Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML / ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML / ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have :
- Paralegal, Law Clerk Designation and / or Legal eDiscovery Specialist preferred
- Relativity Accreditation would be an asset
- Exceptional computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office (Sharepoint, Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint)
- Exceptional eDiscovery skills, including experience conducting reviews in Relativity and Clearwell eDiscovery platforms
- Good understanding of civil procedure in one or more Canadian jurisdictions
- Ability to draft legal documents including releases and legal holds
- Ability to understand, interpret and simplify legal terminology
- Exceptional communication (written & oral) and organizational skills, as well as ability to multi-task
- Self-motivated and able to work with only moderate direction
- Team player with ability to work independently as required
