About the role
Join the Enterprise architecture and Advanced Analytics team as a Solution Architect. In this position, you will be challenged on a broad range of problems faced by the business and solving them through technology or processes.
As the architects responsible for the overall direction of solutions, you will be working with teams and identifying the best direction for CMHC to build the best software based on risk and cost.
You will help the organization integrate our custom and off-the-shelf solutions, on premises or in the cloud. You will be guiding the organization, clarifying architectural concerns, and providing the business with the elements necessary to make the right decisions.
You will influence the changes to our architectural framework, standards, policies, roadmaps, and models, by understanding the inner workings of the systems and their interactions and allow us to positively influence the development and integration of new systems.
As a member of the Enterprise Architecture group, you will work in collaboration with all IT fields in the organization, aligning business strategy, objectives, risk management, security, and superior design.
Responsibilities :
- Lead the evaluation, design, and analysis for the implementation of solutions architecture, working in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders and making sure consensus is reached.
- Create architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects, and systems (including applications, technologies, processes, and information).
- Lead the design of a solution, working with the business to understand the needs of the organization and make sure technical requirements (NFRs) are met and answered.
- Identify architecture concerns, elements that need to be resolved to be able to complete the implementation of a design.
- Develop models and documentation of architecture while designing, overseeing the development of solutions in architecture decisions.
- Provide insight, guidance and decisions to third-party vendors, external firms and CMHC business lines (directors) on making decisions with regards to the technical direction of CMHC (including how to proceed with the Enterprise Architecture Target State architecture).
- Analyze project plans, requests for proposals (RFPs), business demands and other technology decisions.
- Ensure that all major system architecture deliverables are consistent with the target business, applications, data, technology, and security architectures, as well as with architecture principles, standards, methodologies and adopted best practices.
- Resolve technical issues, providing technical support and quality control throughout all stages of systems architecture projects.
- Communicate the implications of architectural decisions, issues, and plans.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems or a related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines e.g., technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development.
An equivalent combination of related education and work experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience producing and editing high quality technical documentation in the form of diagrams and documents for a variety of audiences (technical and non-technical).
- Demonstrated experience designing a solution architecture to provide a secure operating environment.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including an ability to manage several ongoing and competing tasks and / or projects.
- Ability to build and manage effective working relationships with peers, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex technical information or project status to senior management, business units, colleagues, or IT vendors.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Professional designations or certificates related to domains of Application Development, Cloud, Network, Enterprise Architecture (Business, Data, Applications, Technology) as well as security (For example, The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Risk Cost Driven Architecture, C4 Models.
- A desire to learn new things and continue professional development.
- Bilingualism (English and French).
