The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will be responsible for planning and overseeing the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects within the defined scope, schedule, and budget.

The SPM will draw on their strengths in communication, reporting and stakeholder coordination to collaborate with and / or direct business analysts as well as technical and operational staff to ensure project success.

The candidate will be responsible for the development of tools and processes including mentoring others to improve the consistency and effectiveness of project delivery within the organization.

The SPM has the exciting opportunity to be involved in various aspects of our business through a diverse portfolio of projects including but not limited to operations, corporate services and maintenance.

This role is ripe with opportunity to manage a variety of stakeholder interests and deepen your knowledge base. A successful candidate for the position is recognized for their ability to oversee project activities and resources, track deliverables, liaise regularly with stakeholders and consistently deliver timely, quality results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Discovery / Scoping :

Work with the business, technology and architecture teams, utilize intake and formalized discovery processes to perform high level analysis, define the problem / opportunity, expected business benefits, gather high-level requirements to develop a high-level impact assessment, scoped solution, estimates and business case.

Project Planning :

  • Plan, develop and oversee the end-to-end delivery of multiple medium to high complexity projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong financial and project acumen (including cost estimates, budget, resourcing requirements).
  • Partner with senior, multiple and / or executive stakeholders to conduct planning and to develop the project charter, goals, objectives, and delivery approach.
  • Perform risk planning and analysis (qualitative & quantitative), including risk identification and risk response planning.
  • Assess organizational change management requirements and work with the business to prepare an organizational change management plan.

Execution & Operationalization

  • Monitor project delivery against timelines and ensures timely completion within scope and requirements.
  • Demonstrate management of full project lifecycle for multiple initiatives, workstreams or stakeholders, ensuring the effective execution of large or complex projects.
  • Oversee the activities of project team members and monitors project task completion.
  • Track and monitor process, identify, and manage variances and changes, and distribute information and reports on a timely and informative basis.
  • Execute processes effectively, including adherence to compliance processes and exercising sound judgment, ensuring appropriate documentation is completed.
  • Successfully operationalize / transition project to production and maintenance. Lead post project reviews.

Other

  • Contribute towards and adopt standards, tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship on Project Management and project delivery methodologies and practices to less experienced Project Managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Project Manager experience in a supply chain and / or technology delivery environment.
  • University degree preferably in supply chain, computer science, business, management of information systems, engineering, or related fields;

or equivalent combination of training / experience.

  • 7+ years of project management experience, a minimum of 2 years in the transportation & logistics industry would be a nice to have.
  • PMP (PMI), Prince2 or Agile Project Management (APMG) certification preferred.
  • Experience in both waterfall and agile methodologies preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly critical thinking, with a strong attention to detail. Experience with business analysis preferred.
  • Delivery centric approach to problem solving with the ability to collaborate, influence, resolve conflicts, and reach consensus with others.
  • Advanced communication interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex technical subject matter in business terms for executive audiences, succinctly and professionally.
  • A high degree of client service orientation.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and operating at varying levels of uncertainty.
  • Keen negotiation skills and the ability to facilitate discussions, prioritization and decision making across multiple business areas and multiple technology teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Ability to adapt and navigate to changing priorities.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate win-win outcomes among cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing projects and priorities under time pressure without compromising quality.

Ability to work in a virtual team environment, facilitating and contributing to work across geographies and across other functional teams.
