Our organization is an integrated system of hospitals : Whitehorse General Hospital (58 beds), Watson Lake Community Hospital (6 beds) and Dawson City Community Hospital (6 beds).
Reporting to the Executive Director of Quality and Strategy, this position is responsible for providing management and change facilitation support and education related to corporate quality improvement, risk management, patient safety, patient relations, and health information privacy, in support of the safe and excellent operations of Yukon’s hospitals.
Knowledge and Skills Required :
- Good knowledge of management methods, techniques and solid management skills including ability to develop and manage a budget and people
- Knowledge of established practice and procedures of professional nursing care
- Knowledge of trends and developments in quality improvement and risk management
- Knowledge of other Health care disciplines and their role in patient care
- Strong organizational skills, analytical and data interpretation skills
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills / proficiency
- Strong human resource and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize, coach, mentor and evaluate staff
- High degree of management competency including leadership, collaboration, negotiation, motivation, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals
- Ability to set priorities and to demonstrate good judgment
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to solve problems and manage multiple major projects simultaneously
- Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity
The successful candidate will have a degree in Healthcare or a current RN Licensure, Registered member of a recognized health profession college or regulatory body, Continuous Quality Improvement Certification, Risk Management & Safety in Health Services Certification, Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience in hospital management, preferably in an acute care setting including : risk management, process improvement, core measures, case management, claims resolution, medical staff services, and regulatory agencies and a valid Yukon class 5 drivers’ License with a clean driving abstract.
An equivalent combination of education, training and / or experience may be considered. Master’s Degree in Health Care or Business is desirable.
