Our client is an established industry leader in M&E consulting engineering services formercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and high-rise residential building projects.
They have a deep history of successfully delivering high quality design for a variety ofplex engineering and architecture projects, while maintaining excellent relationships within the industry.
They are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer / Designer to join either their Kingston or London, ON office.
Your new role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Designer, your responsibilities will include the following :
- Managing and leading the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protectionponents relevant to building projects of various sizes andplexities, while adhering to applicable codes and standards.
- Directing junior staff on design strategies / concepts.
- Evaluating engineering design requirements, as well as overseeing the creation of design drawings
- Coordinating with other disciplines
- Performing engineering activities such as calculations, code research, material and building systems research, laying outponents, and calculation of program and building areas
- municating with clients, contractors and sales reps.
- Performing site surveys and field reviews to accurately document existing and new construction conditions
- Preparing project documentation and engineering specifications
- Overseeing construction administration (shop drawings, RFIs, CCNs, monthly draws, etc).
- Reviewing project products, services and shop drawings to ensure adherence to project documents, relevant codes and corporate quality standards
- Assisting with and working on business development through client acquisition, fee estimates, RFP response preparation and issuing of fee proposal letters
- Participating in interviews / presentations as required
- Pursuit of new clients and opportunities and maintenance of existing clients
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities and qualifications :
- 6-10+ years of experience in the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems relevant tomercial, industrial, residential, institutional, or healthcare building projects
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a College diploma such as Mechanical Engineering Technology
- P.Eng designation would be an asset, but is not required
- Experience developing drawings in AutoCAD and / or Revit
- High level of initiative with a pro-active approach to work assignments and opportunities
- Ability to multi-task and be organized, especially under the stress of deadlines
- Desire to work within a team environment
- Excellent written and oralmunication skills in English; French would be an asset
