POSITION : REFRIGERATION AIR CONDITIONING MECHANIC - PHSA
JOB TYPE : Permanent
STARTING WAGE : $40.41 / hr.
WORKING HOURS : 7 am to 3 pm
START DATE : ASAP
LOCATION : BC Children's and Women's Hospital and Health Centre - 4500 Oak St, Vancouver, BC V6H 3N1
Responsibilities
- Investigating HVAC trouble calls / alarms and interpreting engineering drawings, and specifications to determine the sequence of operations
- Making appropriate control adjustments such as starting / stopping equipment and / or making sure sensors are working properly
- Operating and maintaining Chillers, Cooling Towers, and pumps by checking and recording daily operating conditions
- Participating in the development of strategies to maintain peak operating conditions
- Conducting various air quality tests in the field
- Modifying HVAC control programs using the software system prompts, menus, control language, and test circuit board
- Repairing, rebuilding, and installing pneumatic and electronic instrumentation and control devices
- Performing refrigeration work by cleaning, repairing, and adjusting controllers and sensors
- Repairing and installing steam heating components and piping
- Assisting Steam Engineers in maintaining the steam distribution piping system
- Performing regular verification of negative isolation room air handling systems and control devices
- Performing other related tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeymen Refrigeration or Air Conditioning Mechanic or equivalent trade recognized by the Province of B.C. is necessary
- A Class B Gas Fitter’s license with an electrical endorsement is required
- A minimum of 2+ years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required
- Impressive communication skills both oral and written
- Works well with others and in a team
- Ability to carry out the job
- Capability to read and understand drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Self-driven and motivated
- Capacity to use relevant machines and equipmen t
