Description

Senior Engineer - Distribution Standards (Customer Service Connections) will join the Distribution Standards team. This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise in developing and maintaining standards for customer service connections to the distribution systems.

Work will include :

• Developing construction and design standards for overhead and underground electrical service connections to the distribution systems at both primary (25 kV phase- phase) and secondary (120V single phase to 600V phase-phase three phase) voltages.
• Collaborating with the external building design community to develop new standards and address location specific electrical service connection issues.
• Supporting field trials of new standards.
• Providing subject matter expertise for resolution of location specific issues.

Required

• 8 years of relevant experience developing construction and design standards for overhead and underground electrical service (Candidates with lesser experience may be considered)
• Experience with (25 kV phase- phase) and secondary (120V single phase to 600V phase-phase three phase) voltages.
• Technical knowledge including electrical, mechanical, and operating requirements of distribution overhead and underground systems.
• Experience designing electrical service rooms is considered an asset.
• Expert knowledge of CSA C22.1 Canadian Electric Code
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence with proven facilitation and negotiation skills is an asset.
• The ability to investigate, analyze and solve a variety of engineering problems, many of which are of a challenging and unusual nature.
• The ability to manage the successful delivery and implementation of projects through strong project management skills and a customer service attitude.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
• Undergraduate or Post-Graduate Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred; mechanical, or other relevant discipline may be considered)
• P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
• The ability to manage relationships and work closely with stakeholders to drive innovation, find engineering solutions that add value, and address competing interests at least life cycle cost.
• Excellent ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in technical writing.
• Commitment to learning and development demonstrated through ongoing development such as self-study, attendance at technical and soft skills courses, and participation in technical and professional societies.
• Demonstrated behavior that upholds a culture of safety.

Additional Requirements

• Every contractor must supply their own Windows 10 or 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
• Every contractor must supply their own Smart Phone . This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
