As a Mechanical Maintenance Lead Hand, you will assist the Leader, Building Operations in organizing and overseeing preventative maintenance schedules and performing various administrative duties and ensuring all tasks are done safely while following The City of Calgary and Calgary Police Service policy and procedures.
This position will also assess job sites to determine if prioritization needs to be reassessed with Leader Building Operations, add comments to the work orders and send requests for work orders.
Primary duties include :
- Maintain and repair building components including Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), Boilers, Chiller Operation, Data Centre Cooling Equipment, Museum Humidifiers, Kitchen Equipment, Filtration and all Safety Items.
- Monitor, action and respond to all Building Management System (BMS) Alarms daily and escalate any further issues.
- Assist the Leader, Building Operations in determining the tasks to be performed by Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic(s) (JMRM) and contractors.
- Coordinate and oversee work with (JMRM) and contractors to provide technical expertise and acceptance.
- Obtain quotes for jobs and provide expertise to the Leader in reviewing and awarding contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Ensure that contractors are following safety procedures and complete work activities on schedule.
- Perform administrative tasks such as attend meetings, participate on committees, give safety talks and ensure Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as well as Hot Work Permits are administered and used properly.
- Help in planning lifecycle priority for replacement of equipment and work on-call / after hours to support the security team.
Qualifications
- A completed 1-year diploma or certificate or the equivalent of 1 year of full-time study (for example : 32 weeks / 8 months classroom time) that includes a related Journeyman Red Seal Trade Certificate in a Mechanical trade such as Plumbing, HVAC or similar field recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
- A minimum of 4 years of progressive building maintenance experience.
- Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate or inter-provincial equivalent is required.
