Estimator - Building

As an Estimator working in the Building Operations team at Pomerleau Construction, you will support new and ongoing project growth and challenge industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge.

Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects ranging from $ million to upwards of $1 billion you will work closely with our proposals team and various client groups to secure bids and ensure project success.

What you will do

• Make quantitative estimates of materials and labor for work deemed critical;
• Prepare the summary of quantities based on the plans and specifications, classifying them according to the standardized sections and functions of the trades involved.
• Analyze drawings and specifications, contract terms and conditions, and identify risk items or opportunities to preconstruction managers;
• Research project-specific prices (materials or subcontractors) following analysis of tender documents;
• Analyze the content of all bids received from suppliers and subcontractors and verify their compliance with bid document requirements during bid compilation and bid closing to determine the lowest compliant bid;
• Ensure that estimates are structured according to project cost breakdowns;
• Participate in the development and evolution of estimating tools by keeping abreast of new technologies and construction methods.

This role could be for you if you have

• Have a technical degree in estimating or a bachelor's degree in construction or equivalent experience;
• Have 0 to 7 years' relevant experience in estimating commercial and institutional projects for a general construction contractor;
• Strong skills in reading plans and specifications;
• Be versatile and possess excellent analytical skills;
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines;
• Teamwork and organizational skills.

Additional asset

Knowledge of Constructbuy, SAGE, OST, REVIT, Navisworks software.
