Electrical Designer / Engineer-Markham, ON
We are a boutique style Engineering Firm catering to large organizations providing specialized solutions and we are eager to grow.
We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented, energetic and proactive Electrical Designer to join our team. In this position you will be responsible for working with Senior Designers and Engineers to prepare electric power distribution and industrial control systems for mining and utility projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Supports Senior Designers / Engineers with electrical design of low and medium voltage electrical systems and industrial automation projects.
- Develops or designs various electrical, instrumentation and control drawings.
- Conducts various calculations such as voltage drop, cable tray fill, lighting, etc.
- Prepares various drawings such as single line diagrams, equipment layouts, cable tray layouts, grounding layouts, wiring and schematic diagrams, installation details, panel schedules, cable schedules, bill of materials, PLC or instrumentation panels, etc.
- Perform Short circuit coordination, arc flash, load flow, system assessment.
- Assist in the preparation of equipment specifications and sizing.
- Creates and maintains drawings using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Maintains electrical data, documentation, and drawings, expend smart block library.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- College or Bachelor Degree In Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent
- Minimum 2 year of heavy industrial, mining or utility type project design experience.
- A valid P.Eng. Designation in the Province of Ontario is an asset.
- Proven knowledge of regulatory codes and standards (OESC, NEC, CSA, IEEE, NFPA).
- Ability and interest in developing and designing complex electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written English.
- Strong team player with ability to coordinate and work with other engineering disciplines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microstation and / or AutoCAD .
- Experience with Revit and / or 3D software is an asset.
- Project administration experience : Change notice / addendum / site visits / meeting minutes / reports / RFIs.
