The YMCA of Northern Alberta is looking for someone who enjoys teaching and developing others to fill the position of Families Supporting Children with Disabilities (FSCD) Early Childcare Educator to provide high quality care and service to families in YMCA Childcare programs by implementing and teaching programs.

This role will play an integral part of a family’s journey of raising their children by providing one-on-one or shared support for children who have additional needs.
The FSCD Support position will work within the terms of an FSCD contract by creating goals in partnership with the child’s family and other support professionals.

Essential Functions
- Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, comply with all YMCA Policies, procedures and Provincial Licensing regulations
- Provide support to promote Child’s healthy development
- Encourage and support the child or (children) to take part in activities
- Work with the family and other supporting professionals to set goals in development and participation
- Complete required documentation and administrative tasks as required
- Guide and redirect children in situations when conflicts arise using a variety of positive child guidance techniques
- Build relationships with families and communicate, verbally and in writing daily
- Commitment to Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies and Procedures
- Attend all required professional development and training opportunities
- Consistently provide a safe and clean environment following all cleaning procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
What You'll Need for This Job
- Experience working with children with disabilities is an asset
- Must possess Level 1,2 or 3 Child Care Certification
- Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR C
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check
- Able to perform physical demands, such as lifting, running, etc.
- Additional training in working with children with disabilities and or Non-violent Crisis Intervention training would be an asset
