Job Description
The Security Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the overall safety and security of the hotel’s guests, employees, and hotel premises.
They works 12 hour night shifts, to be present in the absence of the Security Director. They will be responsible for the Security Service Control Centre and Supervision / Dispatching Security Officers.
They will act as a member of the Emergency Response Team, coordinating the security response to fire, accident, safety concerns and calls for medical assistance.
The Security Supervisor ensures that any violation to law or hotel policy is investigated and duly addressed.
- Supervision of Security Control Center
- Supervision of Security Agents
- Assist in overseeing the safety and security training of all colleagues.
- Assist in managing the security department’s day to day operations.
- Ensure Emergency Response Coordination.
- Dispatch and Control Center Alarm Monitoring.
- Ensure access the hotel’s various access points are controlled and if required staffed
- Ensure loss prevention protocols are being utilized consistently and routinely
- Ensure the systems the security team rely on are functioning and maintained : CCTV, door alarms, panic buttons, etc
- Maintain Lost and Found procedures and integrity
- Review and ensure completion of Daily Security Report
- Ensure BEO’s and related security requirements are completed and invoices are tracked and paid
- Assist with VIP movements when required
- Contract Security and Toronto Police ordering and coordination.
- Ensure score and synergy tickets are accurately completed
- Audit daily security patrols and deficiencies
- Knowledgeable in the use of all security equipment, i.e. radios, cameras, printers, computers and electronic lock system
- Convention / Hospitality awareness and security preparation.
- Assign resources as need for large events / parties / Galas / Conventions. Prepare and plan in advance for all major events.
- Correcting and reporting of fire hazards, health and safety hazards
- Knowledge and application Municipal, Provincial, and Federal statues with attention to the Trespass to Property Act.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Security & Emergency Management
Qualifications
- Valid First Aid and C.P.R. certificates
- Valid Ontario Security License
- Five years’ experience in security and safety of property and people, preferably in a hotel
- Excellent organization skills, written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated individual who has strong leadership qualities
- Computer knowledge of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Available to work overnight shifts, weekends and holidays
- Law and Security Diploma or Law Enforcement Certification or comparable working experience
