The Maintenance Mechanic’s responsibilities include performing regular inspections of machinery and equipment, carrying out preventative maintenance, and fulfilling other duties such as building maintenance as assigned.
You will have experience in, but not limited to Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical. You must be able to work 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize & Sustain).
You must keep detailed reports. Your work area must be clean and organized.
General Responsibilities and Duties :
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation by using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
- Understand health and safety requirements and work within the ministry guidelines with respect to the industrial regulations.
- Participate in safety programs and ensure the application of our safety standards for all maintenance operations.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
- Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Perform preventive / predictive maintenance, overhaul machinery, install Machinery.
- Execute preventative maintenance activities including trouble shooting and repairs to all mill equipment in a timely manner.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
- Experience with extruder, hopper, blender ,pump and motor alignment, equipment disassembly and reassembly, measuring and setting of components within prescribed tolerances;
- Operate machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.
- Work with instrumentation and electrical departments to troubleshoot and resolve any daily machine related issues as required.
- Work in a safe productive manner to maximize quality, efficiency and availability while minimizing maintenance cost and unscheduled downtime.
Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Requirements :
Qualified applicants will have good interpersonal and problem-solving skills and able to work with other trades and operators.
- Must have a valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic License 433A.
- Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Millwright Certificate(433A);
- Exposure to mechanical devices, pneumatic controls and welding / cutting.
- Experience in manufacturing industry (papermill experience an asset but not mandatory).
- Must have full set (up to 24 mm / 1) of metric & standard tools.
- Good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and ability to work both safely and efficiently.
- Mig, Tig and Arc welding is an asset (stainless steel pipe, guard repairs, etc.).
- Safety training is an asset (fall arrest, hoisting and rigging, hand tool safety, etc.
- Machining, Tig and Stick welding, Hydraulics, Pneumatics.
- Must be able to read mechanical drawings.
- Must be able to work shifts as well as some extended hours and weekends.
- Able to diagnose mechanical problems and expedite repair.
- Able to work on day shift with a rotating weekend schedule (shift rotation and schedule is subject to change with notice).
