Mission
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Technician Equipment is a self starter who has the ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of issues on the Alberta Highways Services Limited (AHSL) light equipment.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostics to pinpoint mechanical and electrical issues.
- Execute precise and efficient repairs across a diverse range of vehicles, ensuring top-tier workmanship.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules to optimize vehicle performance.
- Stay abreast of the latest automotive technologies and advancements.
- Utilize cutting-edge diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- Provide clear and concise explanations of repairs to customers and colleagues.
- Adhere rigorously to safety protocols and industry regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment for a safe and efficient workspace.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment
- Knowledge in Colas Safety Policies and Procedures
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
- Extensive background in reading and understanding equipment manuals
- Computer literate
- Grade 12 completion with 5 years experience
- Valid Alberta Drivers License, Class 5 minimum
- Mandatory training Courses : Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR, fire extinguisher
- Journeyman Automotive Mechanic Certification preferred
Working Conditions
- Perform work / repairs in a shop.
- Exposure to working on Light Components.
- A portion of work may be performed in an indoor setting and may include a combination of standing, sitting, and walking.
- A portion of work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
- Required to perform tasks that involve standing, heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Use of personal protection equipment is required.
- Must be able to work outdoors in areas that are dusty and / or dirty.
