The Opportunity
Multiple full time, permanent opportunities are available in Mental Health & Addictions, Rehab & Continuing Care, Long Term Care and Children and Women’s Health.
Duties include : clinical assessment of the comprehensive mental needs of the specific group : Adults (including long term care residents), Children, Adolescents and their families who are dealing with complex issues such as addictions, mental health issues, anxiety, behavioral and learning issues, trauma, witnessing violence, child sexual abuse, maltreatment, separation and divorce, and parenting children and adolescents
The successful incumbent(s) will provide advanced clinical intervention to these groups through a broad range of therapeutic frameworks including individual therapy, family therapy, play therapy, group therapy (both with children and parents), and trauma debriefing; research, analyze, and implement theoretical frameworks to address the specific mental health needs of this population; design, develop, implement and evaluate group treatment programs specific to the identified needs; provide community education sessions and consultation. Dependent on the area of care, providing care to the single session walk in clinic is an expectation of this position.
The Clinical Psychologist functions autonomously and may involve direct supervision of provisionally registered psychologists, psychology doctoral residents and students. These positions maintain accountability to the Psychology Professional Practice Consultant for professional integrity and practice issues.
Qualifications
- Graduation with an approved / recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
- Registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.
- Graduate course work and supervised experience in psychological assessment and therapy with children, adolescents, families and groups with a specific focus on mental health issues is required.
- Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferred.
- Exhibit strong communication, program development and evaluation skills
- Possess strong leadership and supervisory skills that are focused on engaging others and developing coalitions.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to Clinical Psychologists II's and other supervisees.
- Possess strong analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research, deliver lectures / clinical education sessions and provide clinical direction and consultation within an interprofessional environment.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to participle in the clinical training activities of the psychology discipline.
- Demonstrated strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct.
- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
Compensation / Hours and Incentives
Hourly : $45.01 - $53.19
The following Sign on Incentives may be applicable and can be combined :
1. Signing bonus up to $10,000
2. Come Home incentive up to $50,000
3. Annual Market Differential of $15,000
4. Student Bursary up to $20,000
5. Relocation support
Hours of Work : 75 bi-weekly (8-hour days) Flexible work arrangement required
