Responsibilities :

Controls Aircraft and Component related, Warranty, TAT performance remedies, Insurance and Cost Recovery Process.

  • As a senior member of the team, individuals will have responsibility to ensure all possible financial and material recoveries are captured. Total submitted recoveries in a single year average 800-900 transactions equaling >

12 million dollars.

  • As assigned by the Manager of Component Repair, Warranty & Shops, individuals may be responsible for reviewing and approving vendor quotes / invoicing / credits as they relate to Aircraft Warranty, Insurance & Claims, up to an individual approval limit of $100,000 per quote. Approvals above $100,000 revert to Management level.
  • As a senior member of the team, individuals are responsible for working / negotiating with Vendors and Service Providers to achieve claim outcomes that are acceptable and complimentary to WestJet’s best interests – unless specified by the Manager Component Repair, Warranty & Claims - final approval is at Management level.
  • Responsible for identifying and actioning warranty recovery by reviewing and submitting airframe, component and engine warranty claims with OEM’s and Vendors per contractual terms and obligations (IE; Boeing standard warranty and PSAA, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Warranty Program, Vendor warranty programs, Freight & Labour and SB / SL credits).
  • Responsible for monitoring and following up with OEM’s and Vendors regarding outstanding claims.
  • Responsible for Reviewing, gathering data and creating reports for submission to insurance regarding aircraft damage and incident claims in conjunction with Technical Operations Safety Department and responsible Management.
  • Responsible for monitoring and following up on insurance claims.
  • Responsible for Reviewing, gathering data and creating reports for submission to third parties regarding aircraft incident damage cost recovery in conjunction with Technical Operations Safety Department and responsible Management.
  • Responsible for monitoring and following up on third party incident cost recovery claims
  • Responsible for reviewing and submitting component repair TAT liquidated damage claims with vendors per contractual terms.
  • Responsible for monitoring and following up with vendors regarding outstanding TAT claims.
  • Responsible for taking pictures as required to ensure integrity of the warranty, insurance, cost recovery, and component repair process(s).
  • Responsible for maintaining a warranty, insurance, TAT and cost recovery dashboard. (Metrics for - accepted vs. denied, total dollars recovered, outstanding claims, claims by vendor etc.).
  • Build relationships with OEM’s, Vendors and Insurance Representatives and work directly with them as required regarding component repair, warranty, insurance, TAT and cost recovery claims.
  • Supports Technical Operations (Tech Ops) Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
  • Provide training to junior members of the team and to other department team members as required as it relates to warranty and claims.
  • May be required to be available after hours for AOG and other urgent support as it relates to warranty and claims.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge and experience of industry practices and understands the responsibilities associated with the position.

    Education :

  • Minimum 5 years working within an airline environment with minimum 3 years aircraft technical operations environment in a related roll – Aircraft and component repair, aircraft / component warranty, Aviation Insurance, Material handling etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Boeing Standard Warranty and PSAA programs / processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of the De Havilland of Canada Standard Warranty program / process.
  • Strong working knowledge of aircraft component IPC, CMM, AMM etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of the aircraft component MRO process and contracts.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be meticulous with an extreme focus on detail.
  • Strong computer skills - MS office
  • Understanding of contracting terms and conditions with the ability to use these to recover costs through available contract performance remedies.
