The Faculty of Business & Information Technology at Ontario Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in thearea of Accounting. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2024, or as soon as it is filled.

Applicants must possess a university graduate degree (or equivalent) in Businessor Accounting, and must hold a Canadian CPA designation. The ideal candidate will be able to teach inmore than one accounting area in our accredited Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)(BCom) Accounting major. These areas are : Financial Accounting, ManagerialAccounting, Taxation, Auditing, and / or Financial Statement Analysis. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding teaching experienceor strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. Experience teaching in a Canadian post-secondaryenvironment, especially where that experience includes teaching with cases, isdesirable.

Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate should have demonstrable skills inthe integration of technology into teaching, and be able to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment. Duties willinclude preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparingand marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to studentinquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests andexaminations. Duties may include thesupervision of teaching assistant(s). The successful candidate will beexpected to follow an 70% teaching and 20% service and 10% other workload forthe year.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
