Express Scripts Canada is looking for a Director, Product Strategy and Management to join our dynamic payer solutions team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction and focus for product management at Express Scripts Canada.
This role is responsible for leading, defining and driving the overall product strategy, overseeing product development processes and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
This role is central to bridging the company’s vision and successful execution of product initiatives, leading to a consistent approach to development, assessing value for all stakeholders and delivering initiatives that drive exceptional client experiences.
This role will be responsible for building the long-term strategic product roadmap using disciplined business planning, creative product conceptualization and cross-company collaboration for execution.
The role reports to the Head of Payor Services and will also be supported by cross-functional groups to ensure delivery of the approved strategy, roadmaps, products / services and experience.
You are a strong senior leader who is known to have a natural ability to form strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, thrive in ambiguity and transform complex concepts into simple concepts.

The scope of the role encompasses the following broad functions : oversight for the product portfolio, focusing on strategic planning, market analysis, innovation, client insights, including opportunity assessment, financial modeling, decision support, market landscape assessment, product development and management.
This role will lead a team of strategy and product advisors.
What you’ll do :
Own and lead product and services strategy and execution in support of our corporate objectives and driven by market and client insights
Conduct competitive analysis and research; continuously collect data from inside and outside sources and use this information to adapt and inform product strategy and direction
Analyze product performance and make data-driven recommendations for future enhancement or decommissioning of existing products
Study and assess new markets, regulatory requirements, applications, products, and partners to determine what opportunities are available for new products and how they impact existing offering(s)
Define and maintain the ESC product and service portfolio
Partner with sales and marketing teams to create effective positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies
Foster relationships with external stakeholders and potential strategic partners (start-ups and established health care innovators) to evolve opportunity analysis and product development.
Where required, also support formalizing partnerships with external stakeholders through contract development and related due diligence activities.
Work with extended product delivery teams to drive initiatives that support our key strategic growth pillars. Create an environment that encourages new approaches, challenges the status quo and inspires creativity.
Develop use cases, opportunity assessments, financial models and other related business planning materials
Lead analysis and negotiations surrounding strategic business initiatives
Anticipate and influence trends to ensure a competitive advantage in meeting client needs.
Determine appropriate metrics of success to systematically track and measure the impact of new products.
Create and update KPIs for product initiatives and supporting product delivery processes
Measure success with KPIs that include operational efficiencies, platform adoption, customer journey impact, and stability
Develop / enhance standardized processes to ensure we are optimizing our efforts across the team
Collaborate with Project Management Office to ensure quality end-to-end product delivery is maintained
What you bring :
University degree in Business and / or a similar discipline; MBA or Product Manager certification is an asset
5+ years leadership experience
5+ years experience in Product Management, Product Development; previous experience in Program Management and Project Management is an asset.
Previous health benefit management or group health insurance industry experience
You take a 360-degree view of product management which includes operational readiness like customer support, product ops, analytics and track the impact on key metrics.
Track record of collaboration and influence when working in cross-functional teams, ability to resolve tensions, lead, and foster collaborative relationships, engage and inspire the right outcome through partnerships and mutual respect
You are capable of listening to and interpreting stakeholder feedback to develop new business processes and identify business issues and / or objectives
Resourceful and willing learner who proactively researches solutions to business challenges
Experience managing financial reporting and understanding how the numbers tie to the business operations
Data-driven approach with advanced analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a sharp eye for quality and detail
Strong professional presence, oral, written and presentation skills, including facilitation of meetings where excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills is a must;
strong creation and delivery of succinct presentations to executive leaders
Effective negotiation skills
Great-to-haves :
Experience with Business Casing and KPI Scorecard Development
Clinical experience
Knowledge in financial analysis and modeling; ability to build financial business cases for the purpose of providing recommendations and hi-lighting financial implications
Bilingual in English and French
