The Opportunity :

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manager of Accounting & Tax to join our client's dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of key functions that will help drive the organization's commitment to delivering exceptional service to its clientele.

What You Will Be Doing :

  • Conduct thorough reviews of financial statements and related tax returns, including corporate and sales tax, for a select portfolio of clients.
  • Collaborate with Senior Managers to prepare for tax planning meetings, both quarterly and annually, by identifying and recommending tax-planning opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to our team of Associates and Senior Associates, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Perform accounting and tax research and analysis to ensure compliance and optimize our clients' tax strategies.
  • Manage inquiries and requests from the Canada Revenue Agency, ensuring timely and accurate responses.

What We Need From You :

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and clients simultaneously.
  • Professional and personable demeanour, capable of building strong relationships with clients.
  • Self-motivated and independent, demonstrating the initiative to drive projects forward.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and maintain a strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in technology, with a readiness to learn and adapt to new software and applications quickly.

Additional Skills and Requirements :

  • Canadian CPA designation with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a small to mid-sized accounting firm, particularly in serving owner-managed businesses.
  • Strong understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and financial statements.
  • Previous experience managing a team of associates, with an emphasis on mentoring individuals of varying skill levels.
  • Familiarity with online accounting software and applications, such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, Wagepoint, Dext, and Hubdoc, is considered a valuable asset.
