Ontario Health atHome is looking for an experienced senior leader who contributes to the overall success of the organization by providing effective leadership and strategic direction in organizational development.
This is a hybrid position with a possible work location from any of the 14 Ontario Health atHome office locations.
What will you do?
Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, Organizational Development and Equity and working closely with other leaders and key internal partners, the Director, Organizational Development leads a team and provides leadership to assess, identify, plan, develop and implement organizational development strategies, functions, solutions and initiatives that drive and support organizational effectiveness, change, culture, capacity, engagement, performance, and learning and skills development to enable the successful achievement of the OHAH strategic priorities and operational objectives.
This portfolio includes organizational development, change management, employee engagement, equity, inclusion, diversity and anti-racism (EIDAR), talent management, leadership development, and learning and development.
Organizational Strategy
- Provides leadership, guidance and expertise to the development and execution of effective and integrated organizational development, organizational effectiveness, change, engagement, EIDAR and talent management strategies, plans, initiatives, programs, policies aligned with the company's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
- Contributes to strategic and operational planning of the HRODE portfolio, including the People Strategy and Annual Business Plan, and identifies opportunities for program and service enhancements.
- Collaborates with senior leaders to identify key areas for improvement and change.
Leadership and Management
- Exemplifies behaviours, actions and attitudes consistent with the organization’s mission, vision and values, and fosters a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- In collaboration with the VP HRODE and other Directors, leads OD functions and activities, and leads staff and teams to ensure the provision of effective, efficient OD solutions and service for the organization.
- Provides effective leadership and direction to team members through setting of goals and expectations, performance management, development planning, feedback and coaching, work monitoring and workload planning, and other support as appropriate.
- Drives the development and implementation of policies, procedures and programs including accountability frameworks, performance measures, indicators and results.
- Demonstrates capabilities aligned with the LEADS in a Caring Environment Leadership Framework.
Change Management
- Models and promotes change leadership competencies and principles.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of change management methodologies, best practices, and strategies to ensure the organization develops internal capacity to be effective in its mission and is adaptable to the transformation of the health care system.
- Leads change management initiatives by providing guidance, education, tools, and support to ensure effective transition during organizational changes.
OD Initiatives and Interventions
- Provides leadership and guidance for OD portfolios and plans, monitors and evaluates OD programs.
- Develops, implements, and advises on quality HR and OD policies and practices.
- Designs and implements programs and systems that optimize the use of people, strategies, structures, processes and culture to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Organizational Culture and Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Anti-Racism (EIDAR)
- Oversees the development, operationalization, and advancement of the EIDAR strategy
- Monitors, assess, evaluate and regularly report on activities and status associated with EIDAR.
Talent Management
Leads and collaborates with other HROD leaders to design and implement talent management strategies, including those related to talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, recognition, performance management, workforce planning, and succession planning.
Learning & Development
Oversees the design, development, sourcing and implementation of programs, initiatives, policies, processes, systems, and resources to improve effectiveness and capacity by building individual and collective knowledge, skills, and capabilities.
Leadership Development
- Leads the design and / or sourcing and implementation of leadership development opportunities and / or resources to cultivate a strong leadership pipeline, enhance leadership and management skills, and drive leadership excellence.
- Provides executive coaching to our formal and informal leaders.
Employee Engagement
- Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of employee engagement strategies, initiatives, programs, and processes in support of improving employee engagement and building a diverse, inclusive, and people-centred culture.
- Leads the employee engagement survey, action planning, and evaluation activities.
What must you have?
Educational Qualifications
- University degree in organizational development, industrial / organizational psychology, organizational behaviour, human resources, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- CHRP / CHRL designation an asset
- Change management training and certification an asset
- Executive coaching certification an asset
- Certified Training and Development Professional designation an asset
Experience
- Minimum eight (8) to ten (10) years related experience with three (3) to five (5) years in a management role (people and projects)
- Visibility and credibility as a respected change manager in periods of transition and significant change
- Strong Generalist experience; health care experience is preferred
- Experience leading in a unionized environment preferred
- Experience in program leadership related to people, strategy, financial and resource utilization
- Strong relationship management, facilitation and critical thinking skills
- Highly developed understanding and application of methodologies and approaches for; learning, strategic planning, organization design, leadership development, change management, performance management, coaching, diversity, and work / life balance, conflict management and communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of adult learning principles, assessment and analysis of learning needs, learning and design development and evaluation

- Knowledge of and adherence to organizational policies, procedures and relevant administrative practices
- Knowledge of the Ontario health care system and related legislation
- Knowledge of relevant organizational / industry computer applications (. HRIS / Quadrant)
- In-depth understanding of the evolving role of the organization within the healthcare sector and their impact on the development of organizational priorities
- In-depth knowledge of organizational business strategies, objectives, priorities and programs, and related priorities and plans
