The Buildings group in Vancouver provide mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the Transportation (Light Rail, Airports, Road Tunnels), Healthcare, Light Industrial, Municipal, Institutional, and National Defense.

Our clients and projects and diverse witha wide variety of current and upcoming projects in Canada and the United States of America.

Our electrical group is dynamic and tight-knit, servicing both local projects and contributing to large remote projects as part of distributed virtual project teams.

We are growing and looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our regional team with opportunities to provide staff leadership roles and support business development activities.

Your role within the team

  • Provide electrical systems design leadership and project management for design mandates of medium and high complexity.
  • Review, understand and clearly communicate all relevant client requirements, provide design options and recommendations to meet those requirements.
  • Develop strategies to Identify and manage project risks and potential liabilities.
  • Lead and actively participate in, and document, meetings with clients, contractors, and other consultants. Review tender submissions and quotations from contractors.

Work with contractors to quickly resolve onsite issues and ensure contractor's conformance to design requirements.

  • Lead the preparation of electrical specifications. Prepare design briefs, schematics, project documents and perform all required engineering calculations.
  • Lead production all required engineering documents in schematic design, design development and working drawings. Ensure design products meet required quality standards.

Oversee and ensure timely review of shop drawings and RFI responses.

Support and work in collaboration with other team members to complete projects on time and on budget. Supervise, mentor and train intermediate engineers, junior designers & EITs.

The ideal candidate

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in British Columbia. (Registered in other provinces or or in US is an asset).
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience working with relevant codes including, BCBC, NBC, CEC, ASHRAE 90.1, relevant CSA Standards (C282, Z32, Z317.

5, B44, etc.), ULC-S524 and S537.

Minimum of 15 years' experience working on complex electrical building systems and designing building services in a variety of building types, especially light industrial, healthcare, transportation facilities, and municipal buildings.

Track record of lead design responsibility for Power Supply and Distribution, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Communications and Security systems for complex buildings.

  • Computer Skills - MS Office Suite, AutoCAD. (AutoCAD & REVIT experience is an asset but not part of daily role).
  • Excellent communication, inter-personal skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $90,000 - $130,000 annually (Only Applicable to British Columbia).

Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
