Civil Structural Engineer - Hydropower & Dams

Job Description

Our team specializing in the engineering of hydropower and dams in our large Energy & Resources business sector is looking for an Engineer with particular expertise in civil / structural engineering as well as the rehabilitation of hydraulic structures and hydroelectric power plants.

We possess a solid reputation in the field of hydroelectricity and dams, underpinned by numerous qualifications and framework contracts with major market players.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Preliminary or detailed structural design of hydraulic structures and hydroelectric facilities
  • Carry out engineering for the rehabilitation of hydraulic structures and hydroelectric facilities
  • Carry out feasibility and other studies
  • Carry out stability studies for dams and other hydraulic structures
  • Carry out detailed and summary inspections of various structures such as dams, spillways, water intakes, penstocks and other structures related to hydroelectric production
  • Assist in the preparation of customer-specific plans and specifications for tendering purposes
  • Follow up and find solutions to technical delivery problems to ensure optimal quality and on-time delivery.
  • Prepare technical documents for quotation purposes
  • Explain solution choices and technical design decisions to customers
  • Participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders from various disciplines
  • Monitor project costs and schedules
  • Recommend appropriate parameters for various structures
  • In the medium term, support and direct less experienced engineers and technicians
  • In the medium term, ensure multidisciplinary technical coordination and project management

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering, with civil / structural engineering experience in the hydropower / hydroelectric and dam sector
  • Master’s Degree or specific experience in civil / structural engineering (an asset)
  • Member of l'Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • More than five (5) years of experience in structural design (primarily concrete and steel structures)
  • Autonomy, sense of initiative, and ability work as part of a team
  • Fluency in oral and written French
  • Proficiency in oral and written English in a professional context to ensure adequate communication on certain projects nationwide
