Job Summary
This position exists to support the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Office of Facilities Management (OFM). The Facilities Engineer will support the OFM in MEP design, construction, maintenance, and energy conservation and will report to the Director of Mechanical and Energy Operations.
The Facilities Engineer will handle a variety of jobs simultaneously and react to rapidly changing job priorities. The Facilities Engineer will work as a team with other Facilities employees as well as work individually to plan and organize daily duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform HVAC, plumbing and minor electrical design for small to medium new construction and renovation projects including all necessary calculations for cooling / heating load, pump and fan capacities, etc.
- Prepare construction drawings and specifications for bidding and construction purposes.
- Provide engineering support for large capital projects from conceptual design to final construction, including document review, inspections and coordination of campus thermal utilities.
- Identify and analyze facility deficiencies / problems in conjunction with the Thermal Energy Plant and facility shops and provide engineering based solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering.
- Twenty-Four (24) months of related experience.
