Job Title : Data Governance Specialist Location : Hybrid - Mississauga Pay Rate : $85-90 / hr T4 / $100-105 / hr Inc. Job Type : 6-month contract with the possibility for extension Job Posting ID : WECJP00028928

Role Description : Join our 'EXECUTION' team, where you'll be instrumental in integrating Data Governance assets into our Centralized Data Governance platform using advanced tools and technologies.

Collaborate with the WDP / DGC team to implement effective data load strategies.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Deploy Walmart Canada's tools and technologies to establish data governance frameworks, encompassing policies, standards, procedures, processes, and metrics.
  • Provide hands-on support and execute data governance practices, coordinating business deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of information assets, including authoritative systems, data domains, data owners, and the enterprise data governance platform.
  • Facilitate workshops with business partners to identify assets and curate metadata.
  • Act as a liaison between Business, Functional areas, and technology to ensure clear identification and definition of data-related business assets.
  • Define performance indicators, compliance metrics, and adoption rates for data-related policies, standards, and practices.

Must Have :

  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data quality practices.
  • Hands-on experience with data governance tools, preferably Collibra.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Eagerness to explore and experiment with new tools and technologies.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, managing multiple project deliveries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Evidence of self-motivation for continuous learning and development.
  • 8+ years of IT experience, with 4-5 years focused on Data Governance and related programs.

Nice to Have :

  • Knowledge of the retail domain.
  • Understanding of the data lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with various data tools.
  • Relevant certifications in data governance.
