Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering Technology, Davis Campus and supporting the entire School, the Academic Program Manager (APM) is responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of a portfolio of programs and projects offered by the School to provide exceptional teaching and boundless opportunities for students.
The APM has oversight and directs the development and implementation of School-based academic and student success initiatives such as student retention and success, strategic enrolment management, academic operations, and integrity of programming.
The incumbent assists Associate Dean with on-going supervision and development of non-full-time faculty as well as organizing student success initiatives and providing student support.
They conduct market research to recommend and implement new programming, program changes, and for curriculum development.
They foster relationships, internally and externally, and implement strategies to attract and support students and faculty in the portfolio and to promote diversity and inclusion.
The Academic Program Manager also supports the Associate Dean with the quality of program services and for collaboration with faculty , staff and the leadership team supporting the portfolio.
As part of the School of management team, they collaborate to develop the talent pool to deliver programs and projects and assists Associate Dean with term activities such as student appeal process, advancing academic integrity and resolution of student concerns as well as leading and coordinator annual program and comprehensive reviews.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Organizing and managing programs to support students and promote strategies to improve academic integrity.
- Collaborating and advising faculty on academic breaches, assisting with the review and adjudication of academic appeals, and attempts to resolve student concerns in collaboration with other Sheridan resources and supports including the Associate Dean when required.
- Supporting the recruitment of non-full-time faculty including supervision of onboarding and mentorship, advises on Sheridan Policy and Procedures and coaching faculty assigned to course leadership.
- Acting on student feedback to support faculty development and student success in collaboration with the Associate Dean as necessary.
- Interacting with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute special events and projects, manages donations, grants and gifts to ensure maximum impact on the student experience and oversees capital projects and renovations once approved.
Actively involved in school program recruitment strategic initiatives and activities to drive domestic student growth within programs in the school of Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering Technology
Assisting with the management of both the annual and comprehensive program review process for academic programs of study within the School and manages the development of new programs through the quality assurance process by working with internal and external stakeholders to assure successful implementation.
In addition, assist in the ongoing degree program accreditation within the school
Collecting, analyzing and maintaining data to improve bench strength and capacity to deliver state-of-the-art relevant curriculum, produces periodic environmental scans of the marketplace and competitive programs within the GTA to identify emerging trends and recommending ways to capitalize on opportunities.
Audits course leadership and course content to advise of gaps and support exceptional curriculum delivery.
- Representing the School on cross-college committees and projects and reports new information and opportunities back to the school
- Performing other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications :
- 4-year undergraduate degree in a discipline related to Mechanical, Electrical, Computer and Chemical Engineering. Master's degree is preferred
- 5-years Demonstrated decision making experience in managing multiple activities in the educational sector to deliver courses or programming
- Proficient in MS Office (particularly Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Enterprise software (eg. Peoplesoft)
- Experience in team building and managing a team to meet performance metrics.
- Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and student success
- Experience developing financial budgets, reports and planning and implementing program operations to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of post-secondary educational and management structures, student recruitment and enrolment practices.
- Demonstrated program development skills and change management skills and implementation of procedures
- PMP or related Project Management Certification, Diversity and Inclusion Certificate, Student Success and / or Student Advising Certificate is desired.
- Direct experience working with College Information Systems is preferred
