Description :
Thompson Builders Inc. is currently seeking a charismatic and experienced individual to join our team as a Site Superintendent working from our operations area in Edmonton, reporting to the General Manager.
The Site Superintendent will be involved in a 4-6 story wood frame multi-family construction project.
Responsibilities :
- Ensure Thompsons health, safety, and environmental standards are met or exceeded.
- Organize the job site, sub-contractors, suppliers, and crew to carry out the project plan.
- Oversee all on-site construction activities on a daily basis, enforcing company standards and procedures.
- Provide bi-weekly schedule updates comparative to the baseline schedule.
- Directly supervise all phases of the project and ensure quality control inspections and testing are completed and accurate.
- Advise management of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing / resolving such conflicts.
- Ensure subcontract forces work efficiently to meet schedule demands and that the work carried out is done in accordance with the plans and specifications.
- Help organize and attend site meetings.
- Review the project plans (Consultant’s design drawings) and specifications; provide prompt feedback to the Project Manager on building design conflicts, scheduling, possible cost-saving measures, potential errors, discrepancies, and construction problems which could arise.
- Monitor, contribute, and assure compliance with project construction plans, schedules, budgets, man hours, design requirements, and assume responsibility for the commissioning of project systems.
Approval from the Project Manager or GM is required for items that affect the budget and schedule of the project.
- Take the lead on productivity issues and monitor work performance and efficiency of employees and subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedules are followed and the project is executed effectively and within budget.
- Ensure project materials and workmanship meet the project Quality Standards.
- Complete and review all documented deficiency list items.
Qualifications :
- 10 years of construction and supervision experience, post-secondary education (CET or equivalent)
- Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, people / team management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
- Sound knowledge of construction and building techniques and ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
- Provide direction to and resolve problems among 30+ subcontractors and vendors.
- Ability to identify deficient work and provide resolution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (proficiency with MS Office, word, excel, project)
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Leadership for Safety Excellence Certification would be an asset.
