Database Administrators participate in the design, build, run, and modernization of our databases. They are part of a senior technical team to ensure that our databases are secure, highly available, and recoverable.
They effectively administer the databases to ensure that we are satisfying our customer requirements. They troubleshoot and consult with other support teams to resolve issues and implement process improvements to avoid reoccurrences.
You will perform all database administration tasks and should be well versed with database features, utilities, and recovery procedures.
You must collaborate with application teams to tune SQL to ensure minimal resource consumption and optimal throughput. You would participate in continuous process improvement throughout the SDLC by creating scripts and procedures to increase the speed of delivery.
You continuously review capacity and predictive reports to efficiently allocate system resources. Possess knowledge of AWS / Cloud technologies to participate in the cloud journey.
You will participate in on-call duties and are expected to provide senior-level expertise in resolving database issues.
Skills / Proficiencies :
- 3+ years of experience with commercial service infrastructure at both a software and infrastructure level
- 3+ years of experience in any of RDMS databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DB2).
- 3+ years' experience with UNIX / Linux Operating Systems
- Functional skills System Design and Architecture, DevOps / Deployment automation, Troubleshooting, Service Monitoring.
- Passionate teammate who understands and respects personal & cultural differences
- Ability to work under pressure and be highly adaptable.
- Strong written and communications skills for collaboration with various teams and upper management
- Solid analytical skills, especially in area of translating business requirements into technical design with a continuous focus on aligning technical roadmap with the immediate and long-term Business strategy.
- Able to adapt and embrace change and support business strategy and vision.
- Knowledge of next-generation design patterns / architecture like micro-services, layered pattern, cloud.
- Strong aptitude for learning new skills and new technologies.
- Participate in on-call duties and provide senior level expertise in troubleshooting and resolving database issues.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or in a related field.
- 3+ years of experience within a programming and application system environment, with experience and a working knowledge in the following technologies : OS : Linux, Windows;
Automation : Terraform, BladeLogic, Chef, Jenkins, Ansible; Cloud : AWS, Azure; Scripting : PowerShell, Perl, Shell Scripts.
One of these databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DB2).
