Summary :
The successful candidate will be based out of our Finance department at our Head Office in Vaughan, reporting to our Controller.
As a Cost Accountant in our dynamic environment, you will be responsible for financial cost analysis, cost control and ensuring the accuracy of financial records;
essentially, the candidate will help the organization control costs and engage in strategic planning to improve cost efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborates with Purchasing, Production, and Engineering to determine and confirm standard costing rates.
- Conducts periodic reviews and audits of system rates to actual.
- Collects and analyzes financial data to confirm accuracy of financial processing.
- Rolls out annual standard costs in D365 environment.
- Reviews inventory evaluation and generates necessary reporting.
- Helps management make important decisions based on costs and benefits.
- Monitors changes in processes or methods to calculate effects on overall costs.
- Estimates product costs for new products.
- Updates to system for new products, changes to production, engineering changes.
- Reviews and Audits standard costs to actual rates.
- Reviews financial processing of standards in general ledger.
- Reviews financial reporting of variances (PPV & DL) monthly.
- Coordinates and calculates annual standards including annual cost roll.
- Oversees standards for new product as required.
- Oversees standards for engineering changes.
- Performs analysis as required by various departments.
- Prepares monthly inventory reconciliation.
- Participation in year end audit.
Requirements and Skills :
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- CPA not required, but considered an asset.
- 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience in a highly developed ERP system
- Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data.
- Ability to conduct detailed cost analysis and financial modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to present financial information.
- Knowledge of D365 is considered an asset.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records and reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment and evolving business needs.
